The heart of Helsinki welcomes a new chapter of luxurious Nordic hospitality with the opening of the Maria Hotel today. This urban sanctuary is proud to be part of the prestigious Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and harmoniously combines contemporary elegance with echoes of its historical past in the historical Kruununhaka district of the city. With 117 rooms, including 38 magnificent suites, two restaurants, a grand ballroom, a quiet chapel, a state-of-the-art spa and a destination boutique with jewelry from Fabergé and respected Finnish designers, Hotel Maria is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated launches of 2023 and next year.

Nestled in a country that is regularly celebrated as the happiest in the world, Hotel Maria invites guests to immerse themselves in the fascinating essence of the region. With tailor-made experiences and wellness at the base, Hotel Maria is an ideal starting point to discover the best of the Nordic countries or to explore the cultural and natural wonders of the Finnish capital. As the first hotel in the Nordic countries to offer a wellness concierge, Hotel Maria offers highly personalized programs, including jet lag treatments and specially adapted nutrition programs, a weekly running club, spa treatments in the suite, spa suites (19) with private saunas or steam baths and large bathtubs that take the mind-body experience to the next level.

Classic Finnish Charm Meets American opulence

Hotel Maria is a collection of four architectural and historical buildings dating back to 1885, protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency. The design concept gracefully balances majestic and historical architecture with sophisticated modern furniture, highlighting the definition of modern opulence in Helsinki. With interiors designed by the chief designer Jana Sasko and Puroplan, one of Finland’s leading interior design companies, Hotel Maria remarkably combines Finnish culture with American style and very spacious standards. Many of the original features of the site are celebrated throughout the design, with traditional details on walls and ceilings decorated in cool white and neutral tones, creating a cohesive and timeless backdrop to the overall aesthetic. In this crisp matter, the design overlays a range of soft textures accented with natural woods and hand-forged metals, all topped with an extensive eclectic collection of contemporary lighting fixtures.

The Ultimate Setting for Increased Stays

Hotel Maria offers a variety of accommodation options, including more suites than any other hotel in Helsinki and rooms that, with an average size of over 460 square meters, offer twice as much space as typical Finnish hotels. The features of the rooms include large beds in the “American style”, advanced technology and spacious marble bathrooms in the spa style, most with extra-large bathtubs, electric fireplaces, bath TVs, and 19 suites are equipped with their own private traditional Finnish saunas or steam rooms.

Guests can choose from three carefully designed room categories and a wide selection of suites, including quiet spa suites (19 in total), some of which are spread over two floors and have saunas or steam rooms. A collection of 14 signature suites offers the ultimate indulgent retreat. The Maria Signature suite (753-926 square feet) has a chic and welcoming living room that is ideal for entertaining, while the Penthouse Suite (947 square feet) impresses with floor-to-ceiling windows, an upscale kitchen and a dining table that are ideal for a private in-suite dinner or a private cooking experience. The Maria Imperial Suite (1,722 square meters) is undoubtedly the ultimate opulence and probably the best suite in Finland, offering a first-class experience with a private butler, two bathtubs in the suite, a steam room, a library, two lounges and a large dining room for up to 10 people, ideal for entertaining friends or holding meetings.

The Maria Spa

The Hotel Maria is committed to holistic well-being, which is illustrated by the in-house spa Maria Spa. It has a large mixed Finnish sauna, a uniquely designed steam room, plunge pools with cold and hot water, a jacuzzi and a fully enclosed atrium sanctuary with greenery and a spa bar. Characteristic skin and body treatments such as Luminizer massage, Arctic Healing with Maria and Nordic Vitality Facial take place in four treatment rooms with opulence products from the exclusive Biologique Recherche line. The Maria Spa will open in December 2023 and the wellness options will be further expanded in June 2024 with the opening of the wellness club, which offers a future-oriented fitness area with first-class amenities and unique training programs for guests and locals.

Personalized services

In addition to standard opulence hotel services such as valet parking and concierge assistance, Maria Hotel offers private butler, dog sitter and babysitting services, personal buyers and an experience manager dedicated to the preparation and delivery of tailor-made opulence adventures throughout Finland. The hotel’s prime location makes it easy to explore the famous sights of Helsinki, while exclusive partnerships with top-class hotels and resorts in Lapland and the Lake region offer unique stays with a view of the magical Northern Lights and the beautiful Lake region, making Finland’s most valuable experiences relatively easy to reach.

Sophisticated culinary experiences

At the head of the hotel’s food and drink offer is the characteristic restaurant Lilja, run by Ville chef Rainio. With extensive culinary experience in prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Europe, including the world-famous Noma in Copenhagen, voted the Best Restaurant in the world, Chef Ville takes guests on a gastronomic journey inspired by the traditions of French cuisine.
